Billing Boats Rigging Twine.
Rigging twine is made for doing the rigging on miniature ship models - it also happens to make fantastic scale rope for virtually any scale and when coloured with metallic paint makes an excellent steel-hawser. The key thing differentiating rigging thread from most household products is that it has a much more defined "weave" in it making it infinitely better for modeling rope or hawser.
0.2mm can be used for 10mm and 15mm upwards, 0.5mm is usable as a thick cable at 15mm and upwards, 0.8mm is pushing into 20mm territory and the 1.2mm is ideal for 28mm figures for all your pirate boats and similar as well as sci-fi, modern and WW2 towing cables and hawsers.

AW says: a professional 0.5mm fibre-optic that will carry light without significant loss to its terminal end. Ideal for modeling this fibre optic lets you light areas that are too small for LED's and adds some serious "WOW Factor" to any model. Easy to use but don't use super-glue when affixing the cable as it will melt the fibre and/or make it very fragile. Under normal circumstances the cable can be bent and twisted even into knots and still carry 99.8% of light along its length.
