The Avalon Tri-Ad (small) is a multi-part kit containing pre-painted MDF, reverse-etched acrylic, highly-detailed resin parts and photo-quality screen print images. The MDF parts are unframed, so all is needed is to apply glue (sparingly).
Remember to dry-fit pieces to check they are in the right place before using glue.
Position the first side of the tower so that the numbers align with the numbers on the base. The horizontal line on the side pieces should be at the bottom.
Position the second side piece in the same way as the first, aligning them by the numbers. You can fix both side pieces to the base using a small amount of glue.
Glue the central triangular brace piece into the middle of the tower. This piece looks like a triangle with circles covering the points. It should slot into the two side pieces, halfway up them. You need to make sure you align it to the numbers on the sides/base, in order for it to fit.
Put the last side piece in its place, glueing it at the bottom, and at the central brace piece.
Glue the black triangular cap piece to the top of the tower, to stabilise the structure. This piece will need to be aligned correctly with the numbers on the side pieces and base.
Now it is time put the photo prints on the side of the tower. You will need to cut them out of the A4 sheet of photo paper provided, and glue them to the sides. You glue sparingly so as to not damage the photo prints. The photo prints will need to be aligned so their bottom edge is along the horizontal line cut into the side pieces. The notches at the middle of print will fit around the circular parts of the internal brace section.
Slide the acrylic rods down the side of the tower, passing through square holes in the central brace section, and into square holes on the base of the tower. Do not glue these acrylic rods! The fit on the acrylic rods may be tight, so take care when fitting them, in case you damage parts of the tower. You will need to cut these rods out of their frame with a knife.
Glue the black capper piece with square holes in the corners onto the top of the tower. The piece needs to be aligned so the numbers match up to the sides and base This part needs to go in so that the text is underneath the part. To help this, the word ‘UNDERSIDE’ has been cut into the piece, and this needs to go on the underside of the piece. The acrylic rods should pass through the holes and fit flush with the top of this piece. Do not get glue near the acrylic rods, as this will ruin the effect.
Place the triangular acrylic capper on top of the tower. Do not glue this piece! Glue will ruin the effect of the acrylic. This acrylic piece is reverse etched, make sure you have the piece the right way up, and that the text is readable from above, and not back to front.
Cut the black ‘U’ shaped pieces from the small frame. These pieces push on to the lock the acrylic capper in place. The larger part of the ‘U’ shape should hang down. These pieces should be a tight fit, and lock the acrylic capper in place, but if needed, small amounts of glue can be used to glue the underside of the ‘U’ shapes to the black piece underneath the acrylic capper. Do not get glue on the acrylic capper!
You will now need to glue the resin benches to the base of tower. You will want to paint them first. Make sure the benches cover the numbering on the base and side of the tower, and are positioned evenly on each side. You Avalon Tri-Ad (large) is now complete.
