AW SAYS: The Javis premier range is a big improvement on the basic range of Javis scatters. THe colour quality is a lot more consistent and the entire range is matched for colour across all types so that your fine turf light green matches the tree foliage light green. Essentially then the difference between the four types of material is really how big the particulates are in them: fine turf is very fine small particles and you go up in size to the tree foliage which is a solid lump of material off which you can break bits as required.
Whilst the turfs are designed as a ground cover to represent grass they make for excellent tree and bush foliage, especially going over cheaper foam bushes (or lichen or rubberised horsehair) and trees produced by other manufacturers - resulting in a far more realistic looking tree or bush - especially so at smaller scales.
These materials are not colourfast though so be wary if soaking them with diluted PVA etc as they may leech colour in to the liquid. Using a glue such as "Scatter Grip" or "Tacky Glue" is therefore preferable.
Overall the premier range give you a lot of modeling options at very reasonable prices and it is well worth experimenting with them. I myself use the fine turf now as foliage for bushes and trees at 15mm scale, and use the tree and hedge foliage materials for bushes and hedges at the same scale. WHilst our other Faller Clump Foliage gives you more material the Javis range allows you to get three different colours for about the same cost as one colour - which offers you good variety for less money.

"Hedge Foliage"
This is much more solid version of the coarse grass and is very similar to "clump foliage". It is fairly easy to break up into small clumps for r making very small bushes at 28mm or even adding to trees as leaf foliage.

"Tree Foliage"
This is very solid tough lumps of material identical to traditional "clump foliage" materials - it makes for excellent bushes or tree-clumps at most scales, great bushes at 54mm and even right down to the smaller scales.

Lichen
This is a natural material similar to moss which is useful for adding simple
foliage or clumps of bushes to terrain and troop bases. Lichen can be found in a variety of colours
which are ideal
for all types of landscapes.
Lichen can be used "as is" or can have various scatters and even fine leaves added to them to look even more realistic. It is also easy to use to make simple but effective looking hedges.
AW Lichen is available in two colours and double-combed so that there is less waste material in it, it is packed in large re-sealable bags and offers superb value for money.
