Our mats are made to be durable, and in fact you could actually march on them yourself and they would still be intact! We wanted a mat that could be easily transported from game to game, without worry of fold marks,tearing or other excessive damage and can be rolled up and taken away,stored until the next encounter and come out time after time looking good! Customising your mat.
"Our durable mat surfaces can take a beating! You can paint, texture, stick stuff, cut, ... do nigh on whatever you want to it in order to customise it. In the picture below, the desert beige mat has been spray painted lightly with household textured spray paint. This has lightened the overall shade and added a more dusty appearance. The green mat is "as it is" and has not been painted or textured.A list of suitable paints and hobby recommendations will come soon.
Customising your mat is highly recommended, as it will bring out a better and more realistic finish to your mat, to the way you want it! We will bring you more examples of our customised mats as soon as possible."

Mat-O-War Gallery

AW Says: These mats are quite hard to describe without giving the wrong impression of what they are like. Our best way of saying what they are is to say that "they are like taking a huge bucket of static-grass flock, compressing it tightly together with a glue and making a mat from it"

The result is a very durable, yet flexible and lightweight product that almost perfectly matches the common multi-shade varieties of static-grass. If you look on the Mat-O-War gallery above you can see that the green-grass mat blends almost perfectly with figure bases covered in flock.

You can fold and store these mats and the creases drop out even after weeks of storage - but should you forget where you put it, and accidentally store it under a heavy weight for a few months.... then still don't worry - lay it out and cool-steam-iron if flat again! You can even just leave it for a while and it will come out flat in due time.

They are relatively easy to cut with scissor or a sharp knife but you would have major difficulties trying to tear them, YET, at the same time, they are flexible enough for you to mould them over objects to make hills and so forth.

All in all these mats are fantastic value for money due to their durability, fabulous looks and lightweight nature - you can touch them up with spray paints or even brush parts of them up with a wire-brush to make a "bushier" patch of longer grass.

The beige mats take a little bit more work to get looking authentic for ground areas such as Wild-West or desert games; the original colour is varied and good but they can be transformed with a little bit of colour from spray paint or airbrushing to lighten the shades in some areas.

Bear in mind that they are "both surfaces" mat: so you can even paint a road layout on one side and a different layout on the other!

All-in-all these mats are highly recommended.

Please note: The mats are sent out folded, so please unfold them upon delivery and allow to flatten out. They are too big to post through a letter box so please ensure that you have made arrangements with your local postman with regards signing for their delivery.
